Ben’s marathon efforts raise £2k-plus for Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove

Running 26 miles may have left local businessman Ben Truslove exhausted, but he was also delighted after raising more than £2,000 for the Primrose Hospice in Bromsgrove.

Commercial property expert Ben, the joint managing director of John Truslove Ltd in Redditch, initially hoped to raise £1,500 from supporters by taking part in the Chester Marathon on 3 October.

But donations kept flooding in, reaching an impressive £2,065 by the time the charity took his cheque picture after the event, and the total has since topped £2,100.

Ben, who was “chuffed” to have completed the run in three hours, 44 minutes, said: “The marathon was exhausting but also exhilarating to be a part of, and I’m so grateful for all the generous donations.

“The total raised was more than I’d imagined, and it will all help the Primrose to provide more crucial care for patients living with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families.”

Abi Coulson, corporate fundraiser at Primrose Hospice, explained that the independent charity raises more than £1.75 million a year from the local community to provide care and help with patients’ home adjustments, physiotherapy, medication reviews or emotional support.

She said: “We’re so pleased that Ben decided to run the marathon for Primrose and are chuffed to bits that his supporters donated so much for his efforts.”

Ben has since agreed that John Truslove Ltd will be a sponsor of the Primrose Hospice’s Santa Fun Run on Sunday 5 December. For more details of this and other fundraising events, visit www.primrosehospice.org.
