John Truslove helps family travel firm hit the High Street

High-profile new premises are providing a place in the sun for a family-owned travel firm in Droitwich, with help from commercial property agents John Truslove.

A huge increase in passing trade is putting a smile on the face of Mystic Isle Travel’s owner Kevin Legg since the move down the road from Friar Street to the new premises at 53 High Street, Droitwich.

The coach travel business, now in its second generation after a quarter of a century on the road, has taken a five-year lease on the 605 sq ft shop.

“Our position on the high street has given us a big boost,” said Mr Legg.

“It’s helping put us back on track after a difficult time for everyone in the hospitality and travel industry during Covid.”

Ian Parker, joint managing director of John Truslove, helped to broker the lease deal and make the move as smooth as possible.

Mr Legg added: “Ian always took my calls, answered our questions and chased matters for us.”

Launched in 1997 with just a single 21-seater minibus Mystic Isle Travel now operates four coaches providing affordable quality holidays across the British Isles.

“I started out working for Midland Red but these days smaller family concerns like ours tend to dominate the coach travel industry; we’re more adaptable and provide a more affordable service. We find our most popular destinations are the Warner Leisure Hotels, the Isle of Wight and Eastbourne.”

Mr Legg has been joined in the business by daughter Tamsin and son Tim, who he credits for engineering the company’s post-Covid recovery by launching budget-priced local day trips to destinations such as Tewkesbury, Ledbury and the Malverns.

“It helped remind people how much they enjoyed getting out for the day,” he said.

Ian Parker of John Truslove said: “We are delighted to have such a well-established local business as a tenant for one of our landlord’s premises. It provides the perfect shop window for Mystic Isle Travel and we hope this will be a long and fruitful relationship.”
