New nursery adventure takes off for young couple, thanks to John Truslove
The youngest children’s nursery manager in the UK is set to open her first venture in Redditch, thanks to property agency John Truslove.
Despite having just turned 25, Becky Eaves has more than a decade’s experience working in childcare and now she and husband Ben are launching their Adventure Awaits Day Nursery in former offices at Birchfield Road, at Headless Cross.
Ben, a builder and landscaper whose firm has carried out the remodelling work at the nursery, said: “When we saw the premises we realised they were perfect – there is an outside garden and plenty of car parking at the front.
“Becky has worked for a Redditch nursery since she left school and it is clear there is enormous demand for places. And with thousands more homes being built in the surrounding area, that demand is only going to increase.
“She has always joked about starting her own nursery, but then we found the premises on Birchfield Road and the next thing we were signing leases. We believe it makes Becky the youngest nursery manager in the country.
“Mark Davis and Darren Ellis, who own the premises, and Ben Truslove from property agents John Truslove have all been brilliant throughout the process. It took several months to secure planning permission for change of use but they agreed to reserve on the premises for us in the meantime.
“Ben has been very supportive, keeping us informed and responding to questions very rapidly.”
Becky added: “Opening my own nursery has always been my dream, and now it’s coming true. We will be taking children from birth up to five years-old as a rule, and running a holiday club for up to nine-year-olds.”
The couple aim to have the new nursery open before the end of the year.
The property deal sees Adventure Awaits Nursery secure 62 Birchfield Road on a ten-year lease at £32,500 per annum. The 2,545 sq ft premises will be able to cater for up to 88 children at a time.
Ben Truslove, a director at the John Truslove agency, said: “We pride ourselves on working closely with landlords and prospective tenants and that approach has paid dividends all round in this case.
“It is an imaginative repurposing of a former office building by a young couple with ambition and drive. Their new nursery will provide a valuable local resource as Redditch continues to grow.”
Landlord Darren Ellis said: “’We were marketing the premises for office use but when Ben and Becky told us their proposals for a children’s nursery we were more than happy to hold it for them while applying for planning permission. This will be a great venture for them within a central location and a perfect building for their requirements.”
Andrew Jones of Wright Hassall acted for the landlords, with Thomas Horton Solicitors acting for Ben and Becky Eaves.
